part of the current crop of artists spearheading the uk acid revival, posthuman s output has evolved over the years, encompassing many genres & styles from their early electronica releases, to their later acid & slow-mo techno. their debut release in 2000 was a series of hand made cds simply called -posthuman- (though better known by the colour of the card inserts grey, black, blue and brown). the duo then went on to host a number of parties in an abandoned underground train station in london between 2001 and 2004, and founded their own label seed records (2) with which they released 3 albums and several other releases of their own and other artists material. they also were the first act on manchester based imprint skam s smak sublabel. doherty left seed records to help relaunch uk techno imprint b12 records in 2006, and started a new label balkan vinyl in 2010. in 2007, doherty founded london-based acid house retrospective clubnight i love acid- where posthuman are monthly resident djs. in 2014 the clubnight launched a vinyl-only label of the same name. he also performs as agt rave cru and as one half of altern 8 live shows since 2015.

arkansas native, lee moore moved to memphis in 1975 with only one goal in mind: to make it big in the music industry and to release music that would be played in new york, l.a and everywhere in between. as a singer and songwriter lee moore spent the 1980s collaborating in memphis with the best of the best session musicians and vocalists from labels like volt and stax records to record and release futuristic boogie, soul, and funk. lee moore unfortunately never got close to reach his goals of fame and fortune. past due have taken the welcome liberty of repressing this monster slice of disco-soul from moores catalogue for us all to enjoy and spin on today s dance-floors. do you feel like party? is a rare early 80s jam from the man and features all the hallmarks of his unique sound and style.this dlp features every (incredibly rare) single and 12inch that lee produced under his name and different monikers. essential boogie business!

weekend loving from jennifer lara is a perfect blend of boogie funk, roots reggae and lovers rock. produced by black solidarity records in 1985, this album is a masterpiece from the studio one princess. recorded at tuff gong and music mountain studios in jamaica, the rhythm tracks are played by some of the best musicians from the island in the sun: lincoln style scott (drum), errol flabba holt (bass), robbye lyn (piano & synthetiser), dean frazer & ronald nambo robinson (horns). this reissue was carefully remastered from black solidarity master tape, now presented as a double lp 45 rpm dj friendly edition. the original limonious artwork was reloaded and a bonus track was added to complete the set: ’in my time’, an obscure slow synth groove, full of hope and melancholy. jennifer lara was first taken to studio one in 1969 by keyboardist richard ace, who was a session musician. she never left the studio one family and became resident harmonist. she added backing vocals to the songs of some of the camp’s biggest names, including delroy wilson, freddie mcgregor, dennis brown and sugar minott. in 1974, jennifer lara recorded her debut album with coxsone dodd at studio one in brentford road. the results of the sessions appeared on studio one presents jennifer lara, which was an instant success. jennifer lara was one of clement coxsone dodds protégés. one year after coxsone passed, she died at the kingston public hospital. she is survived by two children, daughter ika and son cheka. jennifer lara was a very likeable person, got on with everyone. she was involved in many benefit concerts to help to poor and the needy in jamaica. may your soul rest in peace, we love you jennifer.

frank is the latest release from dolfin records, a texas indie label with a prominent underground roster that includes rapper lord byron, producer ben hixon, r&b singer jon bap, and former stanley clarke drummer mike mitchell. liv.e is one of the newer artists on the label, having previously collaborated with hixon through a series of dj parties in dallas (“new math mondays”). hixon and bap have significant marks on this project, providing production, mixing, and background vocals. the beats they lend are often heavy on the drums, with short, hazy riffs that resemble dilla-style syncopated loops. frank opens with a short hiss, launching into a jittery pattern of cymbals and drums, stinging bass slaps, and bouncy guitar riffs. you can almost see the tape reels rolling in front of you as the instrumental loops play themselves out with occasional flutters and skips. a chorus of voices enter with harmonies out of the george clinton songbook, blending in behind the slow, finger-snapping beat. it sounds more like a lost, dusty funk recording from the ’70s than an r&b song made in 2017. -nitish pahwa (passion of the weiss)

to kick-start 2018, happy skull serve up a rare ep from italy s d arcangelo brothers. the sibling duo have been active since the early 1990s, when they played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of roman techno alongside contemporaries lory d, leo anibaldi and their automatic sound unlimited production partner, max durante. in the two decades that have passed since, fabrizio and marco have consistently delivered off-kilter, futurist electronic masterpieces for the likes of nature, analogical force and, most famously, rephlex. the four tracks contained on this happy skull outing are not re-discovered archive cuts, but rather fresh slabs of mind-altering musical intoxication. the alternating bliss and acid-fired psychedelia of -saba tree-and the creeping late night paranoia of -pull seven- set the tone. the effervescent fun continues on the flip, where saucer-eyed chords and idm electronics combine on the rush-inducing -13th cider-. to finish things off fabrizio and marco treat us to -korty-, a mesmerizing, deep space slow jam full of backwards electronics and rumbling flashes of sub-bass.

for the first release of 2018 we welcome harry wolfman to the outplay family! having followed his work for the last couple of years we re very happy to have him deliver this varied 4-tracker, which very well might be some of his best work to date. the a side starts off with hitch . a warm and dusty groover driven by rhodes, a rubbery bassline and a thudding kick. a lovely string piece in the middle of the track slowly builds up to the break for it to return to the head nodding groove soon after. the added percussion gives it a nice lively feel as well. pigs in blankets sets the pace a little slower, but the funk goes on. the track incorporates 80s style samples with some excellent synth and chord work. perfect for a warm up session. starting on the b side harry takes it up a notch with nemoto , which will be a definite stomper for the dance floor. it takes you on a 9 minute journey of rolling bumpy basslines, screaming distortion leads and hypnotising synth work. finally, to ease things off, sts-136 (final call) comes in at a slow 88 bpm pace as a perfect closure to the ep. dreamy pads, piano licks and a calming marimba melody combined with a beat which feels like a warm blanket will make you wander off for a moment

just as magnified record grooves reveal dust constellations and lunar landscapes, so too does godblesscomputers’ third album. “solchi” is a deep search into previous moments in lorenzo nada’s lifetime, influenced by the presence and power of music. his process began with the recovery of some old cassettes, mixtapes nearly forgotten, audio recording of voices from his childhood, and lots of dusty jazz, soul, and hip-hop records. as the starting point of this travel merge with its end, past and present combine to form gbc’s current sound. warm electronic production rooted by grooving bass lines form the core of a kaleidoscope of sixteen tracks, colored by synthesizers, guitar echoes, scratches, samples, fading voices and kalimba. the album is a collection of sixteen stories, sixteen soundscapes, each of them gbc’s tribute to the path taken thus far, an homage to his love for music. the recording and studio work took place over a year, with the adding and subtracting of many elements. for this project, gbc invited several musicians into his home studio, both old friends and new. they helped to recreate the sounds of the original recovered recording, as well as add fresh ideas to the project.

kosmoramadisco vol. 1 is the first of a series of compilations that kosmoramadisco label wants to release from this year to the near future. the vol. 1 shows a sampler of few of the first tracks produced by different electronic artists. the label presents a wide range of electronic styles all with a spaceship common ground, from italo to dark disco and slow mo all wrapped in club dancing format.

its already been two years since leonardo martellis debut with the four-tracker menti singole. he has since been following the direction he took with this first release, at a rather slow path, releasing a lone and haunted mini-album, previsto, in the meantime. with menti singole vol.2, martelli establishes a picture of his music, an update of his aspirations in the feminine.

having established itself with eps from duke slammer and dmx krew, dublin’s modern magic welcomes bari’s armonics for the label’s third release. a trained pianist and resident dj/curator of the we talk event series in his home city, armonics draws influence from electronic music across the past 40 years: chicago & acid house, italo- & electro-disco, new wave, synth-pop and vaporwave.
his italowave style is a fusion of these retro-futuristic and cosmic styles, forged through armonic’s production processes which include cassette recordings, vintage synths & modern korg/roland gear. the look alive ep is the producer’s second release, following a debut on slow motion in late 2016.
accompanying the ep’s three original tracks is an anthemic, piano-led remix of red eye by international feel act black spuma, aka lauer (tuff city kids/arto mwambe) and fabrizio mammarella (telespazio).

matt karmil, pional, marc piñol and dandara shed a new light on slowciety s previous record: guru. guru remixes opens with a mesmerising and brooding interpretation of the self-titled by matt karmil, recalling the raw textures of the uk-producer s lp. pional s remix comes next with a powerful treatment of elephant, once again proving the dancefloor expertise of the madrid-based producer. he delivers the shamanic experience from the original track and pushes it forward with soaring percussive elements & beats layered on a 90 s-esque emotive pad. marc piñol opens the b-side with a groovy remix of guru, described by the man himself as a 122 bpm after party tool. a heady bassline loop, as well as dry & twisted sounds beefed up by karmil s work on the mastering, lead the remix to a hypnotic ride, pure and efficient. last but not least, swiss producer dandara brings his tribal touch to the sensual -utopia-. a slow melodic dancefloor piece which smoothly closes this third record.

berlin’s mechatronica returns with another compilation of forward-thinking electro and acid sounds from innershades, norwell, dj nephil and gestalt.
the a-side packs a dose of merciless electro/acid for the floor by innershadesatmospheric electro journey by norwell. the flip boasts a more gritty sound, as russian producer gestalt debuts on mechatronica with the twisted mndfck, and dj nephil’s slow-rolling monster white dwarf finishes off the record.

hvl has landed on many different labels in recent years, but rough house rosie will always be something of a spiritual home for the adventurous deep electro and techno craftsman. across the hidden valley ep he displays a fluid, instinctive approach to composition enslaver rolls out like a live jam but the detail and control embedded in the track is astounding. distom spook is charged with nervous acidic energy, while lemon stealer takes things in a more experimental direction with all manner of snaking synth voices wriggling around a crisp electro beat. crow hill finishes the ep off with a slow, rolling breakbeat groove and hazy pads for a quintessential b2 wind-down session.

master of minimal wave sonics alessandro parisi has spread his full-bodied synth wares around such esteemed labels as slow motion, charlois, giallo disco, lux rec and more besides, and now he slides up to vivod with an ep of noirish fantasies you ll be hard pushed to resist. -crossfire- is the more uptempo cut, but -ravens- paints a more vivid picture of retro-fetishistic club music in dangerous places. -praying sages- goes all out on the soundtrack vibe, but not before it s been remixed by mick wills, who casually threads a driving techno undercarriage into the track to create a strangely transcendental slab of cathedral-ready body music.

a little over six years ago, let s play house because, in earnest, with a 12-inch called indoor pool. fittingly, the track it revolved around was by runaway, the duo comprised of marcos cabral and jacques renault, and featured remixes by some tight friends of the imprint, beautiful swimmers, slow hands, and soft rocks. we thought it d be fun to celebrate our birthday for once, but not with something too obvious (e.g. a compilation) or too involved (e.g. a warehouse party blowout). what we came up with is this, a 10-inch that reflects a little of the past into the present. appropriately, it includes edits by two of the artists on that debut ep. runaway s is a dusted-off and remixed secret weapon from the act s early days while soft rock s is classic soft rocks, albeit from a more current vintage (it was recorded this year). both absolutely rock. a little twisted, a little tilted, a little tipsy, but, as always, tight and tidy. funny how, since 2009, everything has changed and nothing has changed at all for this label of ours.

the worm’s heart is a complete re-work of the shins’ critically acclaimed album heartworms. the album offers new, reworked versions of the original album tracks with the sequence flipped.
when james mercer wrote, produced, and recorded the heartworms album, he had this desire for an alternate version, an opposite version. the album’s slow songs would be flipped and re-recorded as fast songs, and vice versa. the reasoning was to showcase the versatility and strength of his songwriting, and the result is the worm’s heart. this ‘flipped’ collection is produced by yuuki matthews, jon sortland, & james mercer, and is a must for any fan of the shins.

on the magic movements latest trick, xique-xique from sao paulo paints a psychedelic panorama of the mysterious world of amazonia, full of waterfalls, bellicose woman, and an endless flora & fauna. by combining brazilian rhythms with elements of techno, dubby house and plenty of bird sounds they create a unique bunch of vivid slow jams to get lost in. being already a classic in the infamous circles, xaxoeira is finally available on vinyl ! this vibey masterpiece is the straightest of the bunch, a proper slow-mo house tune, with a dark flute sample and a broken organ that grinds its way into the deepest corners of your brain. nicola cruz (multi culti, zzk rec.) delivers a superb remix of xaxoeira which adds rolling percussions and delay madness to the original material.

the twelfth modal analysis release brings athens based morah to the frontline of the label s roster, along with the new york based, vapauteen on the remix duties. voltage ep carries 3 original tracks by the greek electronic music producer, along with a very special reintrpretation by the american artist, also known as shawn o sullivan. aesthetics vary from slow and hypnotic rhythms to driving ebm riffs and harshly distorted percussions. morah approaches the sound of modal analysis while maintaining his distinct charachter as a producer, using here field recordings and processed vocals.
